FRANKLIN SOLUTIONS -
A CATALYST FOR TRANSFORMATION

Our Vision: Vital, Inclusive Communities

We envision a world comprised of vital communities and organizations that empower their citizens, institutions, and employees to create opportunities for all. We believe that community and organizational vitality is inextricably linked to collaboration and inclusiveness. We imagine large-scale educational, economic, and community transformation made possible by thoughtful strategies and innovative collaborations.

Our Mission: Creating Capacity for Large-Scale Change and Impact

We partner with communities and organizations to create well-paying jobs, an educated citizenry, and a high quality of life. Our aim is to co-create plans, programs, and institutions with transformational impact. We focus on design, advocacy, and implementation strategies to achieve impactful large-scale initiatives and cross-organizational partnerships such as regional innovation hubs or engines.

Our History: Partnerships and Bridge-Building

Franklin Solutions was launched in 2011 by Tim Franklin and focused primarily on serving higher education and TRE Networks clients. Nancy Franklin assumed the lead in 2015, working with clients across the country in higher education, local government, and non-profit organizations, including numerous projects involving businesses. We have also partnered on occasion with other firms to bring specialized expertise to large projects. Franklin Solutions in its current form was re-launched in 2020 with both principals fully participating.

Our careers preceding Franklin Solutions span higher education and business, and involve significant relationships with government. We’ve served in numerous organizational leadership roles and on a substantial number of local and national boards. Tim has led the development of new intermediary organizations in rural and urban settings; worked with local, state and federal policymakers to advocate for large initiatives and change agendas; and partnered with business organizations to deliver cutting-edge innovations.

Nancy has led the development of strategic plans and their implementation for institutions, organizations, and communities; guided academic innovation initiatives - including online learning, student engagement, faculty development, and seamless academic pathways; and developed grant proposals for programs to address workforce, supply chain, STEM capacity-building, and technology needs.

A catalyst for the creation of Franklin Solutions was Tim’s leadership in developing Transformative Regional Engagement (TRE) Networks, a national forum that brought together leaders from government, higher education, and business to discuss policy and possibilities associated with the creation of large-scale multi-sector regional partnerships to address complex issues. Subsequently, Nancy’s dissertation on university roles in distributed regional development and our work experience in and with higher education and communities, has led us to focus Franklin Solutions on the transformative power of public-private partnerships in regional innovation initiatives.
